Purchased these to replace some old Spirocore strings and with a view to a slightly warmer tone. Other reviews seemed good......but didn't work for me.......after a few days plaing in G and D strings were O.K. (just!). The E string took much playing and pressure to stop it ghosting or whistling but eventually came around. The A string was terrible.....constantly scratchy and tinny noise, be it with less rosin or more rosin, strings wiped clean, different bows.....nothing worked......and like all violin strings these days.....outrageouly expensive! Needles to say, the Spirocores went back on and tone restored....no scratchy or tinny noises However, there can be no faulting the great service from Paul at Strings.ie.....always prompt and some useful plectrums thrown in for good measure. Well done Paul!

I've used Zyex strings for several years now, and I have tried many brands of strings through the years. Always bright, responsive and sweet but still with a lovely vibrant sound, I also find they settle faster than other brands, and retain their pitch very well. I play trad music and I think they are brilliant for this genre. The strings have warmth and strength. Suitable for solo playing as there is a sweetness to them also but loud enough not to be drowned out by other instruments in group playing.They also last a long time. I would definitely recommend them. :)
