I purchased the SIE118 Martin-Style Bridge Saddle (73.7 × 10.0 × 2.8 mm) for my Martin DX1RAE, and I’m really pleased with the result. After a fair bit of careful sanding and shaping, I managed to get a perfect snug fit in the bridge slot. I lowered the new saddle quite a bit compared to the original, and the result is fantastic — a comfortably low action that makes the guitar feel much better. The tone feels slightly livelier too, with clearer note definition and smoother playability up the neck. There’s no buzz, and intonation is spot-on. For the price, this was an excellent upgrade. Tip: Take your time sanding, check the fit frequently, and keep the original saddle as a reference — once it’s set right, you’ll love how it plays.
