Description

D'Addaro ProSteels

D'Addaro ProSteels are made with a highly magnetic steel alloy that is precisely wound to provide bright tones that have a wide harmonic spectrum and tight punchy lows. This string is made for the crunch and bite and sustain that is necessary for “in your face” styles of music. They are, by no means a polite string but are easy on your frets and on your fingers.

Daddaro ProSteels "Consistency is the key! D'Addario strings have never let me down." - Grammy Winner Larry Carlton

    The brightest of bright

Posted by kebn on 16th Jan 2014

The ProSteels series are brightest sounding of D'addario's electric guitar strings. Coupled with a heavier gauge set (12s or 13s tend to boost the lows), they can produce a metallic, piano-like, tone akin to that of Elixer nanowebs and at a fraction of the price. I've found that ProSteels (stainless steel) tend to retain their brightness for longer than the XL series (nickel plated steel), however; once the tone begins to dull, the strings really lose their charm. Definitely worth a shot if you love a metallic and bright sound but aren't a fan of coated strings.

    Exactly what I expected

I'm not pro, but strings sound well, do not get out of tune easily.

    Rock Solid Tuning

Posted by Dan on 8th Jan 2014

For years I have used D'Addario XL's (9-42)which sound great and never break but holding tune is so so. I thought I would give the pro steels a shot and have been very pleased with the results. I am using them on a us tele and strat at the moment and both sound great and the tuning is rock solid.
