I used to use Elixir. When I first started with them years ago they were excellent; bright, sharp, and lasted for weeks, even months (depending of course on use). Then Elixers went downhill and became just like any other string; they jaded very quickly. They are not what they used to be. Some time ago D’Addario XT were recommended and I eventually went online and bought them. Initially I was delighted with the sound, balance, ‘cut’, lack of ‘scratching’ etc, but it lasted exactly one week and here I am disappointed again. The manufacturers, I’m beginning to think are fooling us. I have no quibble whatsoever with the service I received from Strings.ie, it was excellent and I like the personal touch ie hand-written ‘thank you’. I will buy from them again. For clarity...I have been playing over 40 years and my guitars are high-end; Santa Cruz, Larrivée, and my own hand-built one-off (from Gibson drawings).

Great delivery- one thing- The brass E string snapped while tuning for the 1st time. Couldn’t get the E note.
